The Summit / Our journey

From gathering
to global governance.

The Humanity Summit brought people together. Today, the Alliance governs the platform that connects those conversations with research and shared commitments.

2019

Lisbon · The beginnings

The first gathering brought together more than 400 participants and created a space where people from different sectors, generations and lived realities could meet around human dignity and justice.

2023

Portugal · The Pact takes shape

Dialogues in Faro, Lisbon and Lagos helped transform the Summit’s purpose into a shared Pact shaped by contributors across 45 countries.

2024

Rio de Janeiro · A wider global stage

The Humanity Summit joined the G20 Social ecosystem. The Pact was presented in Rio and the conversation expanded across policy, culture, justice and the African diaspora.

2025

South Africa · Policy contributions

The Think Tank developed a connected collection for the G20 cycle: the Humanity Index, Measuring Hope, Digital Sovereignty and Epistemic Pluralism, and Justice as Efficiency.

2026

United States · The Alliance

An independent institutional home was created to sustain the Pact, build the Humanity Index, reactivate the Think Tank and connect year-round dialogue with implementation.

2027

California · The next Summit

Humanity Summit 2027 will bring the Alliance’s connected architecture into a shared global gathering in November.

What continues

The Summit was never only an event. It was a way of bringing worlds into the same room.

The Alliance preserves the Summit’s capacity to convene across difference while adding the structures required for work between gatherings.

Humanity Talks keeps the public conversation alive. The Think Tank turns questions into policy and practice. The Humanity Index connects measurement to lived experience. The Pact provides a shared framework. The Summit becomes the place where these strands meet, are challenged and move forward.
